Dr. Esther Brusse (E.)

Neurologist

Short introduction

I have been working as a neurologist with a special focus on neuromuscular diseases since 2004, as part of the neuromuscular team at Erasmus MC. We provide care for patients with muscle and nerve disorders. I am involved in scientific research on Pompe disease, a hereditary muscle disorder. In addition, as medical coordinator of the clinic, I aim to contribute to optimal patient care within the neurology department.

Work experience & education

After completing my medical degree at the University of Groningen, I trained as a neurologist at the St. Elisabeth Tweesteden Hospital in Tilburg. In 2004, I started as a staff neurologist at Erasmus MC Rotterdam, where I also began a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases, which I completed in 2006. For my PhD (completed in 2011), I studied disorders of the cerebellum, which formed the foundation for my interest in genetics.
