Specialists

Patients with a lysosomal storage disorder are seen by our specialists with expertise in this group of disorders. Depending on which lysosomal storage disorder you have, you will see different specialists.

Children are primarily seen by the metabolic pediatrician and adult patients are seen by the metabolic internist. Some patients are also seen by the neurologist (for example in Pompe disease and Mucopolysaccharidosis). In addition to the primary care giver, nurses, nurse specialists, dieticians, physical therapists, psychologists and social workers are closely involved in the care for patients with lysosomal storage disorders.

And then there are the specialists that you as a patient will not come into contact with, but nevertheless are an important part of the team. These include the lab specialists of the diagnostic lab, the basic scientists of the research lab, the scheduling coordinators, project managers, secretarial office and the staff of the hospital pharmacy.
