Dr. Hidde Huidekoper (H.H.)
Metabolic pediatrician and chair of the Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases
Short introduction
Care for patients with a metabolic disease is often complex and multidisciplinary. Guiding patients and their parents effectively through a diagnostic and/or treatment process is, therefore, a rewarding challenge for me. Metabolic diseases are a field that is constantly evolving, with continual breakthroughs in treatment options and diagnostics. All of this makes this specialty so unique for me, and being able to actively contribute to it gives me great satisfaction.
Work experience & education
I completed my training in pediatrics and a fellowship in metabolic diseases at Amsterdam UMC. Prior to that, I earned my PhD at the Department of Pediatric Metabolic Diseases at Amsterdam UMC. Since 2015, I have been working as a pediatrician specializing in metabolic diseases at the Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases at Erasmus MC.
