Dr. Margreet Wagenmakers (M.A.E.M.)

Internist-endocrinologist

Short introduction

Hereditary metabolic diseases almost always have a significant impact on the lives of patients and their families. It is very important to me to provide the best possible care and guidance to patients throughout their lives, while listening carefully to their wishes. Striving together for the best possible quality of life is always my top priority. In addition, I aim to contribute to improving future treatments for patients through clinical and translational research.

Work experience & education

I graduated as a medical doctor in 2007. Afterward, I began my training in internal medicine combined with a PhD trajectory in the Department of Endocrine Diseases at Radboud UMC Nijmegen. In 2016, I successfully defended my dissertation titled "Acromegaly and Cushing's Syndrome: Life After Cure." Since 2017, I have been a registered internist-endocrinologist.

In the spring of 2017, I joined Erasmus MC as an internist at the Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases. I quickly specialized in hereditary metabolic disorders. Working with these very rare and complex diseases, where a physician can make a significant difference for patients, has been a unique opportunity for me and gives me great satisfaction every day.
