Short introduction
Caring for adults with metabolic disorders at Erasmus MC is a wonderful job. It is challenging due to the complexity of these conditions, but when recognized in time, it allows for excellent patient care. The ultimate goal is the preservation of health.
Work experience & education
I began my medical career at LUMC in Leiden, where I completed my medical studies and internal medicine training. In Leiden, I earned my PhD on hormonal changes in individuals with obesity, with a focus on the distribution of excess weight across the body. In 2004, I started working at Erasmus MC, and since 2008 I have been treating adults with hereditary metabolic disorders. Areas of focus include (acute) porphyria, EPP, ammonia metabolism disorders, and lysosomal storage diseases.
